UK Rail Track Manufacturer, Installer & Repairs

David Border

Manufacturing Estimator

David joined KGJ Price Railway Contractors in January 2004 and brings more than 40 years of engineering and rail manufacturing experience to the business. Having begun his career in 1978 within trailer manufacturing and fabrication, David developed his specialist rail skills during a near 20-year career at HOFA, where he progressed from welding into profiling, machining, and the manufacture of complex switches and crossings.

David played a key role in establishing KGJ Price’s manufacturing capability, initially working from the Alan Keef facility in Ross-on-Wye before helping to set up and develop the Bedwas workshop that remains the heart of operations today.

In his current role, David works across welding, machining, and production support, while also providing vital technical input into estimating and drawing interpretation. His experience spans gauges from miniature railways through to mainline infrastructure, and all rail sections from narrow gauge S7 to crane rail A150.

David’s work has supported projects across the UK and internationally, with components manufactured for networks from Milford Haven to Newcastle, and as far afield as Chile, Japan, Zambia, and Denmark.

David’s depth of knowledge, adaptability, and commitment to quality make him a cornerstone of the KGJ Price Manufacturing team and a trusted mentor to those developing their careers in rail engineering.
